The struggle

Losing herself in a lifelong pattern of overriding her own needs, intuition and sense of self.

The F.I.T. LIFE Transformation

Self-worth, clarity, deeper self-trust and the freedom to choose a life that is truly her own.

Becoming Who Everyone Else Needed Her to Be

From the outside, Kelsey had built a successful life. She was accomplished, capable and took good care of the people around her.

But internally, she felt completely disconnected from herself.

In her own words, she felt like "a broken human" and "a shell of a human." She had little sense of self-worth and felt like there was nothing inside.

When Kelsey was seven, she experienced a serious health event that required a lengthy hospital stay. While her healthcare needs were met, she remembers feeling alone and emotionally abandoned during what she now recognizes as a critical developmental time.

She learned to be a "good girl" — not to be a burden and to become who the people around her needed her to be. She learned to adapt, tolerate and abandon herself.

That experience shaped beliefs she carried into adulthood. Her emotional needs didn't feel important. In many ways, she stopped recognizing that she even had them.

The pattern of self-abandonment continued into her adult relationships, where she continued to override herself and tolerate what didn't feel right. She came to believe that her circumstances — and the way others treated her — were entirely her fault, and that she simply needed to do better because the problem was her.

As a result, the questions were rarely Who am I? What do I need? How do I feel about this? Instead, it was:

Who do I need to be here?

The Turning Point

Before joining The F.I.T. LIFE Program, Kelsey had worked with a psychologist and other coaches — always one-to-one — but nothing was really changing. She was burnt out and knew she needed something different.

However, the idea of joining a small group program felt uncomfortable. She worried no one would understand her, feared she would have nothing in common with the other women and thought she might become "the dead weight" or an anchor holding everyone else back. But she joined anyway.

What she expected to be the hardest part became one of the most transformational. In her small group, Kelsey discovered she wasn't alone. She could be seen, supported and connect with women whose stories and experiences felt surprisingly familiar. Surrounded by women who were equally growth-focused and open to holding space for one another, she experienced the power of growing and healing alongside others — realizing that sharing her own experience could support their journeys, too.

Here's how developing the 8 Essential Life Skills helped Kelsey stop abandoning herself and start creating a life that reflected who she truly is.

1

Self-Connection

Kelsey had spent so much of her life becoming who everyone else needed her to be that she had lost touch with who she was underneath it all.

She began reconnecting with her needs, values, desires and truth. Instead of automatically asking what everyone else needed from her, she began asking: What do I want? What feels right for me? Who do I want to be? For the first time, she began building a relationship with the woman she had spent years leaving behind.

2

Elevated Mindset

For years, Kelsey assumed she was the problem. She didn't identify herself as someone who had been hurt or affected by difficult experiences. She simply believed her circumstances were her fault and that she needed to do better.

She began seeing patterns with greater clarity and compassion rather than getting trapped in blame or shame. That shift created space for new possibilities — that she could choose something different going forward and create new experiences for herself.

3

Emotional Regulation

Kelsey learned how to stay present with fear, grief, anger, sadness and difficult emotions without being consumed by them. Rather than shutting down, reacting or allowing emotion to dictate her next move, she developed the capacity to feel what was real and still choose how she wanted to respond. The emotions didn't completely disappear, but she became stronger in her ability to move through them — recognizing triggers not as proof she was back at square one, but as invitations into another level of healing and growth.

4

Nervous System Regulation

Kelsey is a natural planner. When she hits what she calls a "logjam," her instinct is to think harder, analyze every possibility and try to figure out the perfect way forward. But she began recognizing that more thinking wasn't always the answer — in fact, the overthinking itself could keep her stuck.

Instead of spinning in the same patterns, she learned to pause, calm herself and drop into her body. As she says, her body intuitively knows the right next step. What once felt like a dead end became an opportunity to slow down, tune in and allow clarity to emerge.

5

Intuitive Discernment

For Kelsey, intuition wasn't necessarily absent. She simply hadn't learned to trust herself.

Through coaching, breathwork and learning to tune into her body, she began strengthening her internal compass. Instead of making decisions from panic, fear or endless overthinking, she learned to listen for the calmer, more grounded knowing underneath it all.

She describes the difference clearly: when she tunes in, the next steps don't arrive through a "disastrous" overthought process — they arrive with calm. That growing self-trust helped her navigate some of the hardest decisions of her life, and continues to guide how she chooses her relationships, her future and the life she wants to create.

6

Elevated Communication

For much of her life, Kelsey carried things alone. She didn't want to be a burden. She didn't believe she was worthy of taking up space. When something difficult happened, her instinct was often to put a lid on it, make her needs invisible and handle it herself.

That began to change. One of the most transformational parts of Kelsey's experience has been learning to reach out — asking for help, sharing what was real and allowing herself to be supported. The community became one of the most nourishing parts of her journey, not because everyone had the same story, but because she discovered she wasn't alone in hers. As she grew more comfortable communicating honestly, she also learned to set boundaries and speak more clearly about what she wanted and what she would and wouldn't accept in her life.

7

Abundance Focus

For years, Kelsey had been focused on managing life, holding things together and becoming what everyone else needed. Joy didn't feel available.

Through the program — and particularly through breathwork — she rediscovered something she thought was no longer available to her: "uninhibited, unleashed, untethered joy." As she shifted from simply managing life to opening herself to what she wanted to experience and create, more possibility became available. More healing. More growth. More joy.

8

Aligned Action

The greatest shift for Kelsey may be summed up in three words: "I get to choose."

She made one of the hardest and most courageous decisions of her life, but the deeper transformation wasn't simply one decision — it was learning that she gets to keep choosing. Choosing self-love. Choosing self-trust. Choosing how she wants to show up. Choosing the relationships she wants to create. Choosing a life that feels aligned with who she is. And every time she chooses herself, she strengthens that muscle a little more.

Kelsey

"At the beginning, I was a shell of a human. Now I feel fulfilled. I am participating in life's journey.
Freedom for me feels untethered — like everyone who was managing those puppet strings and puppeteering my life are no longer running the show.
I now have the freedom to choose and navigate life as I please."

Kelsey, 46

Today, Kelsey sees herself differently. She smiles. She chooses joy. She recognizes that challenges and triggers don't mean she's failing — they can be invitations to heal, grow and unlock another level of herself.

She has developed a deeper relationship with her body, her intuition and her own inner compass. She's learning to reach out instead of carrying everything alone, to set boundaries where they are needed and to choose relationships that feel nourishing and aligned.

And while life will always continue to bring new opportunities for growth, Kelsey no longer meets them as the woman who believes she has to become whoever everyone else needs her to be. She meets them with something she didn't have before: self-worth, self-trust and the freedom to choose.
